Development of Water-Soluble Electrospun Fibers for the Oral Delivery of Cannabinoids

Cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol (CBG) are two active pharmaceutical ingredients, derived from cannabis plant. In the present study, CBD CBG were formulated with polyvinyl(pyrrolidone) (PVP) Eudragit L-100, using electrohydrodynamic atomization (electrospinning). The produced fibers smooth uniform in shape, average fiber diameters range of 700–900 nm for PVP 1–5 μm L-100 fibers. encapsulation efficiency both CB was high (over 90%) all formulations tested. Both vitro release disintegration tests simulated gastric fluids (SGF) intestinal (SIF) indicated rapid dissolution subsequent drugs. study concluded that electrospinning process is a fast efficient method to produce drug-loaded suitable per os administration cannabinoids.
